Wheaton Kia

Regina, Saskatchewan

When our client came to us, he was ready to move his automotive business from a low ceilinged structure with limited showroom space to a full service Kia dealership. His business’s growth was due to excellent customer service, and he wanted the new building to enhance his clients’ shopping experience. Completed in 2010, the 17,500 square foot dealership is optimized to serve the customer, featuring a brightly lit two-story showroom, a convenient drive through, and a full service repair facility.

Working from a Kia prototype, Alton Tangedal Architect Ltd. enhanced the original design. A curved stainless steel and glass staircase was added to connect the showroom floor to the second floor offices. These feature glass walls and clear sightlines from the floor, giving the visitor a sense of openness and transparency. Tall glass windows allow natural light to properly illuminate the vehicles on the showroom floor. Exterior solar shading and electrically operated interior blinds help control the building’s heat gain/loss, allowing it to operate more efficiently. The contemporary character of the building will serve Wheaton Kia for years to come.
